Mumbai : Dominic Savio, Andheri kicked off their campaign when they rallied to an exciting 23-18 come-from-behind win over Cathedral & John Connon in a boys under-16 Pool B tie, in the 2nd Don Bosco Inter School Basketball Championship on Tuesday. Cathedral enjoyed an envious 13-7 advantage at half-time and looked set to romp to a comfortable win after combining well. But they paid the price for complacency as Keegan Vaz led Dominic Savio’s brilliant recovery in a second-half onslaught with 15 points including two three-pointers. Dominic Savio initiated the recovery and changed the script by scoring 12 points in the third quarter to surge to a surprise 19-13 lead before snatching a thrilling win in a nail-biting final quarter.  Don Bosco ‘A’ survived a scare before also escaping to a 23-18 win over Vibgyor in Pool A. After enjoying a 6-3 lead in the first quarter, the hosts endured stiff resistance in the remaining three quarters with Vibgyor coming up with a strong challenge. Vibgyor, who crashed to their second straight loss in as many ties, kept pace with a brilliant fight back as they reduced the deficit at 17-13 at the end of the third quarter. St. Anthony’s, Chembur ended an exciting day of close encounters when they beat Cathedral 28-23 for their third straight win in Pool B to enhance their hopes of qualifying for the girls under-16 knock out semi-finals.
