Dnyan Vidya Niketan win U-14 boys’ kabaddi

Mumbai : Dnyan Pushpa Vidya Niketan & Junior College reigned supreme after an action packed day to win the Under-14 boys’ kabaddi championship at the Sports For All 2016, played at DY Patil Stadium, Nerul on Friday.

The battle between two of the heavyweights of the tournament, Vidya Niketan and N.M Joshi Marg Municipal Secondary School (Currey Road), yielded a thrilling contest with both teams involved in a close encounter. However, it was Vidya Niketan who held on to their nerves and won 59-46 to run away with the gold medal. In the third place match, R.F Naik Vidyalaya and Junior College produced a dominating performance to win the game 55-20 against Saraswati Secondary School.

In the Under-14 handball event, Lady Ratanbai & Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Academy beat Ryan International School, Nerul 7-6 in a close encounter to win the gold medal, while the bronze medal went to Gopi Birla Memorial School who beat Bunts Sanghas S.M.Shetty International School 10-4.

In the girls’ Under-18 kho-kho competition, Rajshree Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Vidyalaya beat Kendriya Vidyalaya (IIT Powai) 9-6 to win the gold medal.
