World Cup 2019: Fate brings Kohli and Williamson face-to-face, 11 years after U-19 WC semis

The ICC Cricket Men's World Cup 2019 is in its last phase with high-profile teams like India, Australia, England, and New Zealand in the top four to compete for the trophy.

India and New Zealand are going to clash against each other on July 9, at the Old Trafford stadium, Manchester. A very interesting fact has surfaced before their match. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson had a face off against each other during their early youth days at a similar stage.

Both were leading their respective sides in the U-19 team in the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup's semi-finals match in 2008. India U-19 team won the match by 3 wickets (D/L method) after the Kiwis scored 205 runs. Virat Kohli was awarded the man of the match for his all-around performance. He took 2 wickets and scored 43 runs. Kohli and co then went on to beat South Africa in finals to claim the title.
