Cricket fans around the world will breathe a sigh of relief as Vivo IPL 2021 has been shifted to the U.A.E, confirmed BCCI Vice-President Mr. Rajeev Shukla.
There were a lot of speculations about where the remainder of the IPL will be conducted after it was called off midway due to positive cases inside the bio-bubble. The BCCI has decided to conduct the remaining matches in the tried and tested venues in the U.A.E where the 2020 edition of the IPL was conducted hassle-free.
Earlier, a senior BCCI source claimed that the upcoming T20 World Cup might also be shifted to the U.A.E as India might face the third-wave of the pandemic in the upcoming months. He said, "One of the biggest reasons for conducting the tournament in the UAE is that it can be kept to three grounds -- Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi -- and there is no air travel."
He claimed that conducting the IPL in India was always a dangerous proposition when the second wave was wreaking havoc.
"In UAE, all of them were in one bubble from start to finish while in India, each team was travelling to three bubbles. Most of the positive cases emerged after bubble travel," he added.
