Mumbai: The Mago brothers, Harmehr (+20 handicap) and Sumehr Mago (+20) both of Khar Gymkhana came out guns blazing and blasted their way to a 3-0 win against the team of Mayank Bhavsar (+10) and Anil Kharwar (+40) in a second round match of the Khar Gymkhana Snooker Shootout 2019, co-sponsored by Rustomjee Builders and Nagee Cues, and played at Khar Gymkhana’s Yasin Merchant Snooker Room.
The elder brother Harmehr led by example as he potted quite consistently to outsmart Bhavsar 82-48 in the 15-red first frame before Sumehr produced a steady performance to convincingly defeat Kharwar 59-20 in the 6-red second frame and take a 2-0 advantage.
Later, in the 15-red doubles frame, Harmehr and Sumehr stamped their authority with a clinical 86-57 victory against the pair of Bhavsar and Kharwar without much ado to wrap up the win and march into the pre-quarters.
It was a day out for the Khar Gymkhana cueists as Nikhil Saigal (+20) and Rebanta Sehijwani (+30) advanced to the round 16 recording a stunning victory over the seasoned and experienced pairing of Rovin D’Souza (+10) and Anand Raghuvanshi (+10) winning by a 3-1 frame scores.
Top-seeded pair of Aditya Mehta (scratch) and left-handed Dhvaj Haria (scratch) got cracking and sidelined the challenge from NSCI duo of Shubhojit Roy (+30) and Samay Wadhawan (+40) by coasting to a 3-1 victory to also progress to the pre-quarters.
Karnatak SA held
Down by two goals, U Mumba FC came from behind to snatch a points against Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) in a 2-2 tie, in the Elite Division of the Rustomjee-MDFA League, at the Cooperage ground on here on Wednesday.
Sunny Thakur and Roger Sam scored for KSA, while Leander Dharmai and Mayur Suvare found the net for U Mumba to share points.
Result – Karnatak SA 2 (S Thakur, R Sam) drew with U. Mumba 2 (L Dharmai, M Suvare).
