Mumbai: The three teams who were to play the qualifiers for the Super Cup finale have called it a day and are on their way back home.
This has caused further dent into the All India Football Federation’s bid to get the teams to Bhubaneshwar and have a smooth start to this tournament in its inaugural year.”We all the three teams (Minerva, Gokulam Kerala and Aizawl) are on our way back,” said Ranjit Bajaj, the spokesperson of Minerva, while talking to Free Press Journal on Friday.
They are blatantly avoiding us, all that we need is to speak to the AIFF chief, and their silence in this regard is very clear that they don’t want us to have a meeting,” said Bajaj. Interestingly, the three teams, three of the eight protesting clubs, Minerva, Gokulam Kerala, and Aizawl FC, were in
Bhubaneshwar with their full team. Yes, we were with the full set, as we were sure we would get to have a meeting and thrash things out, but AIFF have ignored us, we have no option but to get back home,” added Bajaj. Minerva were to play Pune City FC on Friday, while Gokulam and Aizawl were to play on Saturday against Delhi Dynamos and Chennaiyin FC respectively under the schedule.
