Mumbai : Don Bosco were in line for a double after entering the boys under-11 and Under-13 finals, in the 2nd Don Bosco Inter School Basketball Championship, on Wednesday. The hosts registered convincing wins when they beat Shishuvan 32-18 in the Under-11 semi-finals, and tamed Cathedral & John Connon 20-5 in the Under-13 semi-finals. Don Bosco will face Vibgyor in both championship rounds after the Goregaon school fashioned contrasting wins. Vibgyor subdued Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania, Thane 22-9 in the under-11 semi-final and fashioned a narrow 15-11 win over a gallant St. Joseph’s, Wadala, in the Under-13 semi-finals, after trailing 4-6 at half-time and initiating a second-half comeback where they led 11-6 at the end of the third quarter.
Among the girls, Singhania halted St. Peter’s, Mazagaon with a 23-7 win to set up the under-11 title clash with Divine Child, Andheri, while St. Anthony’s, Chembur overcame Divine Child to set up the under-13 championship round against Vibgyor. In 3/4th play-off ties, Vidyaniketan, Dombivali beat Divine Child 24-8 in an under-13 girls match, while St. Peter’s overcame St. Anthony’s 16-10 in under-11.
