Mumbai : Apoorva Pawar, a Byculla girl from St. Agnes School, and Sprinter Club’s Akshay Khot were adjudged the best sprinters in their respective sections on the concluding day of the Mumbai City District Amateur Athletic meet, held at the University Stadium, Marines Lines.
While Apoorva won the 100m gold and was second best in the 200m, Akshat bagged golds in both 100m and 200m events.
On the opening day Akshat had won the 200m gold in 21.3 secs. thus eclipsing his own timing of 21.77 set in the Chennai open Nationals. He followed it by romping home in style to clinch gold in the 100m. While Apoorva finished second best in the 200m run, won by Tanvi Patil.
