Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia won his second successive gold medal after he defeated Japanese wrestler Daichi Takatani in the finals of the Asian Games on Sunday. Indian shooter Deepak Kumar claimed the silver medal in men’s 10m air rifle event after producing excellent scores at crucial junctures, pipping fancied teammate Ravi Kumar. In 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team, Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar won bronze medal. Indian women’s kabaddi team registered their second win at the Asian Games as they defeated Thailand by 33-23.

Saina Nehwal saved four match points before losing to Nozomi Okuhara after PV Sindhu’s gritty win over world number one Japanese Akane Yamaguchi. It was always going to be a close affair between Sindhu and Yamaguchi but the Indian prevailed in the tight opening singles 21-18 21-19.
