Aditya Mittal outwits Sriram to take lead

Mumbai : Aditya Mittal with a tally of 5.5 points grabbed the lead at the end of the sixth round of the IIFL Wealth Mumbai International Junior Chess Tournament 2016, being played at Mount Litera School International, Bandra (East), Mumbai. In a closely contested game, Mittal overcame the challenge from B. Sriram to pick up the full point. Both, Mittal and Sriram were engaged in a tense battle initially, before the former managed to snatch a slight one piece advantage in the middle game. Mittal capitalized on that advantage and went on to checkmate his rival on the 37th move. Meanwhile, Grandmaster Swapnill S Dhopade and Gusain Himal emerged joint leaders with 6.5 points each after the seventh round of the IIFL Wealth Mumbai International Open Chess Tournament 2016. On the top board, Swapnil beat tournament leader Stany GA, while Gusain Himal defeated Vinay Kumar Matta on the second board. Stany, despite the loss, remained in the hunt as he has 6 points, half a point shy of the leaders.
