Panjim: The Durand Cup trophies were unveiled in a Pre tournament event at the Colva Beach on 12 Sep 14. This year’s mascot will be Naib Subadar Azad Singh. Naib Subadar Azad Singh is in the Limca book of records for covering a distance of 103 Kms balancing a football on his head.

All those present at the event witnessed a military display of martial arts and music. According to the Army authorities here in Goa this was only a harbinger of the military and football Durand Cup extravaganza being brought into Goa this season by the Indian Army. T

he Martial Arts display included a scintillating coordinated display of ‘Kalaripayattu’ and ‘Taekewondo’ by soldiers from the Goa based 2 Signal Training Centre which enthralled the audience. They were also treated with some fine military music by the Pipe band of the 2 Signal Training Centre. The trophies were unveiled and open to public display by Lt Gen PR Shankar, GOC M G & G Area.
