Veteran Telugu film director Vidya Sagar Reddy, popularly known as Sagar, passed away in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to a report in Times of India, Sagar breathed his last at his residence in Chennai after battling prolonged illness.
He died at the age of 70. His last rites will reportedly be held on Thursday evening.
As soon as the news of his demise broke, several members of the south film industry extended their condolences and paid their respects to the veteran filmmaker.
About Sagar
Sagar was reportedly born in Guntur in 1952 and worked as a film editor and an assistant director for several Telugu films before kickstarting his career as a director with 'Rakasi Loya' in 1983.
He has several superhit Telugu films to his credit including 'Khaidi Brothers’, 'Stuwartpuram Dongalu', 'Amma Donga', 'Daaku', 'Action No 1', 'Oosi Na Maradala', 'Rama Sakkanodu', and others.
Besides, he also served as the president of Telugu Directors' Association for three tenures.
