Pune: Members of the Stree Mukti Sampark Samiti released a women’s manifesto in Pune on Tuesday and urged all political parties to incorporate their demands. The members also appealed to women to come out and vote. “Understand our issues carefully and vote for the appropriate candidate,” said a SMSS member.

Women’s health, education, property rights, financial independence are among the important issues raised by SMSS. “Political parties need to pay attention to specific needs of women,” said the SMSS members. SMSS members emphasised the need for women to participate in a democracy, especially in the elections.

They reiterated the needs for a considerable representation of women in the electoral process. “We urge all women to take the elections seriously and come in large numbers and vote,” said the members. The SMSS members said in order to create awareness, they will take out a march on Thursday.
