A gym trainer has been apprehended by the police for attempting to extort money from a young man by claiming to possess his private video. The accused, identified as Mithun Sopan Mungse, is a 36-year-old gym trainer from Medankarwadi, Chakan. The victim, a 21-year-old from the same area, filed a complaint with the Chakan Police.
According to police information, "The accused Mungse worked as a trainer at the same gym where the victim regularly exercised. He became aware that the victim had lost a pen drive containing personal photos and videos. To intimidate the victim, Mungse sent a threatening message, asserting that he his had private videos and demanded a sum of ₹5 lakh. When the victim refused to comply with these demands, Mungse escalated his threats, including the potential release of compromising videos and harm to the victim's reputation. Fearing for his safety, the victim reluctantly transferred ₹14,000 to two different UPI IDs to prevent the private video from being made public. Eventually, the victim decided to report the matter to the police."
The police responded promptly to the complaint and tracked down the accused using the QR code associated with the extortion money. During interrogation, Mungse admitted to his actions and has been arrested and turned over to Chakan police for further legal proceedings.
