The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched an aggressive property tax recovery campaign, targeting defaulters with outstanding dues exceeding ₹5 lakh. As part of this initiative, PCMC has begun attaching properties, with senior officials actively leading the operation. On Thursday, Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil personally supervised on-ground attachment actions in Chikhali, Talawade, Akurdi, and Wakad, targeting mixed-use, non-residential and commercial properties. Additionally, water connections to residential defaulters' properties were disconnected.

PCMC's Property Tax Department has consistently urged property owners to pay their dues, issuing multiple notices before initiating attachments. With only a few days left before the end of the financial year 2023-24, PCMC is intensifying its efforts. Jambhale Patil and Assistant Commissioner Avinash Shinde, along with senior officials, are personally monitoring the operations on the ground.

On Thursday, PCMC carried out property attachment actions in multiple areas due to non-payment of outstanding dues. Several commercial, mixed-use, and industrial properties were attached, and water connections of defaulting residential properties were disconnected. The actions were carried out in the presence of the Additional Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, administrative officers, zonal heads, and tax department officials.

PCMC to attach 10 properties daily until March 31

With the financial year nearing its end, PCMC has announced that it will attach 10 properties daily where arrears exceed ₹5 lakh, ensuring maximum recovery before March 31.

₹862 crore collected; recovery drive to intensify

So far in the 2024-25 financial year, PCMC has recovered ₹862 crore in property tax. Given the limited time left in the fiscal year, the recovery efforts are being scaled up. To facilitate citizens, tax collection offices will remain open on weekends and public holidays.

"Property attachment actions will become even stricter"

“Defaulters of non-residential, mixed-use, and commercial properties are urged to clear their dues immediately. Despite multiple notices, many have failed to comply. In the next 12 days, attachment actions will become even stricter, and 100% of defaulting properties will be attached. Property owners must pay their dues to avoid further action," said Jambhale Patil.

"Pay overdue property tax before March 31 to avoid attachments"

“PCMC has issued repeated notices and final warnings to tax defaulters. Despite this, many property owners have failed to pay their outstanding dues. The municipal administration will continue direct attachment operations over the coming days. Defaulters must clear their tax dues immediately to prevent their properties from being attached," said Shinde.
