The state government has increased VAT by 10% on permit rooms. Similarly, the additional 10% fee hike for the annual renewal of the permit is done every year. However, this year the fee hike has been increased to 15%. The permit room owners have opposed this fee hike. They kept their shops and hotels closed on Thursday and submitted a memorandum to the district collector Raghunath Gawade to cancel the fee hike.
According to the memorandum, the fee hike done by the government is unjust. The license fees are levied according to the population of the area, but the government has not followed this rule while increasing the fees. The permit room owners and liquor shops in Parbhani are facing severe financial losses due to this decision. They have to pay more than Rs 4 lakh for it in Parbhani city.

On the other hand, the hotels and shops around three kilometers away from the city have to pay just Rs 80,000. It is very difficult for them to run their businesses if they have to pay such a huge amount of fees. The government is also taking 10% additional VAT from them. This tax should be recovered from the manufacturers and not from the permit room owners.
The delegation included Dilip Mane, Arun Bhise, Atul Shelke, Vasant Murkute, Deepak Talreja, Bhau Sonawane, Santram Kashte, Gajanan Lahane, Ashok Jaiswal, Raju Landge, Deepak Gaur, Shivaji Dole, Balu Kshirsagar, Bhimrao Ghule, and others.
