In yet another case of an accused escaping from police custody, Santosh Sachin Sathe has fled while undergoing treatment at Sassoon Hospital in Pune.
As per the report by ABP Majha, Sathe, who is facing charges under IPC section 354, had a case registered against him at the Karad police station.
Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) deals with Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
While being treated at the hospital, Sathe was under police surveillance, but managed to escape in the morning. Following the incident, a case has been filed against him at the Bundgarden police station.
Ravindra Gaikwad, Senior Police Inspector, Bund Garden Police Station, speaking to the Free Press Journal, said, "The fled accused has been identified as Santosh Sathe, age 50, a resident of Mhasoli, Taluka Karad. Against him, a case has been registered under section 354 at Karad Police Station."
Lalit Patil escape case
This escape once again raises serious concerns about the law and order situation in the state. The incident draws parallels to the 2023 escape of drug bust accused Lalit Patil from the hospital, which had caused a significant political uproar in Maharashtra.
