Did You Know, Bollywood Journalist Sandip Pal Won The Prestigious Script-Writing Competition At KIFF?

Sandip Pal, who is a very well-known name in the Bollywood journalism world, is an aspiring film maker who is also passionate about writing, singing, photography and all things creative. He is one of those few journalists who have interviewed all the topmost actors from B-town. One of his most notable interviews happened with none other than the Baadshah Of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan.

Recently it was reported that Sandip is all set to debut in the direction space. Allegedly, the scripting was already done and the cast was being finalised and a big banner will be launching the web series.

We went a little deeper and found out that this inclination towards film direction was there in him from his college days. During his post-graduation, he was a film student with a government-run film institute in Kolkata. Not to forget, Kolkata is a place from where many artists in the film industry belong. Kolkata is also a thriving place for films from the world space. The most popular film festival in Kolkata – Kolkata International Film Festival, holds a script writing competition every year where, film students and enthusiasts submit their script for evaluation and from amongst all of those entries, only three are chosen to be the winners. As early as in the year 2008, Sandip Pal’s script titled “With Love Veronica” was one of the three scripts chosen. Sandip was extremely elated at his win in the film festival, quipped he, “I didn’t expect it because, there were many others who were more aged and experienced than I was at that point in time. I wrote the script because somewhere I felt one with the protagonist.”

The screenplay surely emerged to be the winner but, the film was never made. He revealed, “After the big win, I was all pepped up to make it into a film. We even started shooting with an entire professional team and set up. However, the shoot had to be stalled midway due to monetary crisis” Sandip thought that it was just a phase and once it passes, the shoot will resume, but unfortunately, “the film never saw the light of day.”

We feel, what is lotted cannot be blotted and therefore the film wasn’t made but good for him that today, he is venturing into the direction space with his own web series. We wish Sandip all the very best for his future endeavours.
