ONCE there was a man who died and found himself in a beautiful place surrounded by every conceivable comfort. A white-jacketed attendant came to him and said, “You may have anything you choose, any food, any pleasure, any kind of entertainment.” The man was delighted and sampled all the delicacies and luxuries offered to him. Eventually, however, he became bored. Calling the attendant he said, “I have tried every good thing I could think of and now I am tired of all this. I need something to keep occupied. What kind of work can you give me?” The attendant sadly shook his head and said, “Well, I am sorry, Sir, that is the one thing we cannot do for you. There is no work for you here.”
The man replied “This life does not serve any purpose. I might as well go to HELL.” The attendant asked softly “Where do you think you are? You are in Hell.” The moral is that a dream without struggle is a dream without substance. Retired people have no dreams and hence they feel that they are in hell.
Remember the story of Noah and the Ark? At first Noah had a dream which his family or friends could not understand. Everyone around him said, “Noah is crazy. He is building a big boat in the middle of absolute dry land.” Yet, Noah kept on building the ark when his neighbours ridiculed him. He built one window in the ark placed directly overhead so that the only way to look out was to look straight up. Similarly, when we are building the dream of our lives, we should look up, so that the Lord may help. Noah filled his ark with all species of animals. After forty days and forty nights of rain, Noah let a dove out of the window. When the dove returned with an olive branch, he knew that the flood was over. His dream had saved many to lead a new life. To conceive a dream, to manifest a dream we have to grow larger in our minds so that there is enough space for the dream to grow.
A visitor who was visiting the countryside saw a gorgeous farm and commented to the farmer “You have a magnificent farm here.” The old farmer replied “Yeah, you should have seen it when God had it alone!” A dream becomes true when you collaborate with God!
