The city witnessed zero covid-19 deaths on Wednesday after 22 days. The previous zero deaths was recorded on June 13 last month. The death toll till date stands at 19,620. Meanwhile, there was a marginal surge in daily cases in last 24 hours, with 695 new cases recorded, taking the total count to 11,16,827.
Moreover, the recovery rate touched 98 per cent, while the doubling days increased to 836 days. However, the active cases dropped to 5,600 on Wednesday.
Maharashtra continued to witness over 3,000 cases with 3,142 new cases and seven deaths reported in the last 24 hours, pushing its tally to 79,93,051, with 1,47,956 fatalities so far. Dr Pradip Awate, state surveillance officer, said the weekly stats showed rising trend in cases was slowing down.
“We expect cases will drop further but might see a slight surge. Weekly Covid cases declined in Mumbai and Palghar in the last week of June, but increased in Raigad and Pune,” he said.
