Bhayandar :  A 27-year-old youth died after his car plunged into the swirling waters of Vasai creek: the vehicle had crashed into the cement railings of the bridge early on Monday morning.

The mishap was reported at around 6 am.  The deceased, who has been identified as Kunal Parsunpuria (30), was headed towards Borivali; apparently he lost control over his Ascent car (MH 06 W 6915) while crossing the Vasai bridge. The vehicle plunged 20 feet down into the creek. An auto-rickshaw driver, who witnessed the mishap, immediately informed the local police who, along with fire brigade personnel, reached the spot and pulled out the car.

However Parsunpuria, who was the lone occupant, had already succumbed to his injuries. Investigations revealed that Parsunpuria, a resident of Rajendra Nagar in Borivali (East), was  returning home after visiting one of his friends in Vasaigaon. A case under sections 304(A), 279, 337, 338 of the IPC and under section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act has been registered. “While the body has been sent for post-mortem examination, the Manekpur police is carrying out further investigations into the case,” said Senior Police Inspector KS Hegaje.
