Aurangabad : Two brothers of Yakub Memon, namely Yusuf and Essa, remained under stress, didn’t have food and were weeping in the Aurangabad Central Jail throughout the Wednesday night.
According to jail sources, they refused to have dinner on Wednesday and remained awake throughout the night. They broke down repeatedly and were watching TV news for getting latest updates about Yakub’s mercy petition which was heard before the 3-member special bench of the Supreme Court till 4.20 am on Thursday.
On getting information of the confirmation of their brother’s death penalty they broke down and later requested jail authorities to give religious books which were given to them. They thereafter continued reading the books and offered prayer on getting the news of Yakub’s hanging in the early hours of Thursday.
Yusuf refused breakfast and lunch even on Thursday while Essa had it with other prisoners.
As reported earlier, four convicts of the 1993-Mumbai serial blasts are presently serving their life term in the central jail of Aurangabad. They include Yusuf Memon, Essa Memon, Sardarbhai Shaikh Ali Qureshi and Momin Qureshi.
