700 book tickets, 17,000 download
Mumbai : On the second day of paperless mobile ticketing, a total of 700 people travelled using paperless tickets and over 17,000 commuters downloaded the application. The second day saw a rise of 200 people as compared to the 500 tickets which were booked on Thursday.
Most of the tickets that were booked on Friday were booked from station like Andheri, Borivali, Bandra and Goregaon. The officials from Western Railway (WR) resorted to social networking sites to address the queries faced by commuters regarding the application. One of the most frequently asked question by the commuter was that of the registration on the application with a new handset which was not allowed by the application.
Chief PRO of WR, Sharat Chandrayan said, “There have been certain queries like the registration on the application on a new handset. We are addressing these problems on through social media which will help a lot of those people facing
the similar problem. It is a new application and will take some time to settle down.”
Western Railway has witnessed a steep rise in the booking of tickets through mobile phone. While under ordinary circumstances only 50 tickets using the mobile application was booked the figured went up to 130 on July 8 and 500 on July 9. On July 10 the figures touched 700. The commuters for easy booking of tickets are expected to be in open spaced where strong GPS is available and it should at least 30 meters away from the station and not more than 2 km away.
