Mumbai : The Western Railway (WR) is giving its commuters a chance to decide how they want the train indicators to work. Presently, the indicators on WR display the name of stations where the fast trains do not halt. However, the Central Railway (CR) provides the information on stations where the train halts. The attempt is to bring uniformity in suburban train service and hence the WR is seeking their feedback through email and facebook.
It’s worth mentioning that the moment a commuter enters a local platform, his eyes look for one thing and that is the train indicator. About 35 lakh commuters travel on Western Railway suburban network in Mumbai every day and the train indicator is the one thing which makes their daily commuting as well as their life much easier.
Under the project worth Rs 10 crore, which is likely to start by December, the WR will install around 400 indicators at 19 suburban stations by replacing the faulty ones. Moreover, the WR may be providing information in Marathi, in addition to English and Hindi.
