Mumbai : Two prime buildings in Worli – Shubhada and Sukhada – home to powerful politicians such as Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, BJP leader Gopinath Munde and state Congress party president Manikrao Thakre, were served notice by the BMC over non-payment of property tax.

The two buildings have not paid property tax since 2006-‘07. The BMC has now given them a deadline of Sept 30.
On Thursday, the civic body served a notice to the Ministers to pay Rs 16.36 crore in 21 days. These two sprawling buildings on Pochkanwala Road, Worli, were allotted police lands for the construction of private residential quarters for MPs and MLAs.
BMC Assessment and Collection Department Deputy Assessor and Collector Ramesh Aarote said Sukhada and Shubhada have A, B, C and D wings. Both these buildings have not paid property tax from 2007 to 2013. Shubhada has to pay Rs 11.94 crore and Sukhada Rs 4.42 cr.
If residents of both the buildings do not pay property tax within the stipulated period, their properties will be attached.
