The six-month- old premature baby’s body was found by a plumber after the family of the accused complained of a choke-up in their bathroom.
Mumbai : The body of a six-month-old premature baby was found in the drainage of Samruddhi building in MHB colony of Borivali (West) leading to the arrest of a 25-year-old woman, who allegedly flushed the baby after a miscarriage.
The accused has been identified as Nanda Gore, who lives with her mother, two sisters and a brother. Gore, who is into a business of imitation jewellery, had got pregnant following an affair, police said. She then consumed abortion pills, leading to a miscarriage on Friday night. She then took the baby and flushed it, choking the drainage line.
The incident came to light when her own family complained to the secretary of the society about a choked-up bathroom. The secretary called a plumber, who found the body of the baby. According to sources, the body was in several parts, which the MHB police have denied.
Police said the accused had confessed to her crime and was arrested under IPC section 316. “The accused have been arrested and the further investigation is on,” said senior police inspector Gunaji Sawant of MHB police station.
