Chandrapur: A woman committed suicide by jumping to her death in a river after attacking her husband with an axe in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra.
According to police, the incident occurred early on Thursday near Nakoda area of Ghusghus city. The man, Baban Soyamwar, escaped with minor injuries while his wife, Archana, succumbed. The attack was due to the woman’s suspicion of her husband’s character.
Police sources revealed that Baban and Archana had a heated argument on Thursday morning, after which the she attacked her husband with an axe in a fit of rage. Baban sustained injuries, while Archana ran towards the Wardha river and jumped to her death. The nearby locals rushed Baban to the Chandrapur District Hospital.
Meanwhile, after a two-hour rescue operation Archana’s body was fished out and sent for post-mortem to the civic hospital. Police registered a case of attempt-to-murder against Archana while investigations are on.
