Palghar : A wild boar attacked three farmers one after another within a span of three hours at the same spot, in Jawhar (Palghar district) on Thursday morning. It is speculated that the boar lay in wait at the spot to hunt passersby. The forest department, in a quick step to salvage the situation, announced a compensation of Rs 15,000 each and has also made plans to hunt down and kill the boar as it might again attack villagers.
Arjun Somiya Paral (35) was attacked while he was going to his field around 7am and Bheema Govind Bigha (55) and Vikas Krishna Dudeda (16) were attacked in the next two hours, at the same spot. They were admitted to a local hospital for treatment and were said to be stable but under observation and the doctors wanted to confirm if the boar was infected or not. The victims have been given anti-rabies vaccination. The three got bites and scratches on the buttocks, hands and legs. Officials from the forest department said they would hunt down the wild boar .
Villagers were of the opinion that even though the presence of wild animals had been confirmed in the area, they hadn’t harmed people yet and the incident was shocking. They said they had decided to start moving in groups.
