Mumbai : As the monsoon approaches many make forecasts of weather conditions to sooth the farmers and all others who eagerly await at least average downpour. The forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has proved almost true in last few years. The IMD has aptly predicted the mood of weather conditions be it Tsunami, heavy rainfall, El Nino effect etc. The accurate forecast by the IMD has certainly reduced the gravity of looming danger in the form of different natural calamities. On this backdrop, the prominent newspaper group that publishes popular dailies ‘Navshakti’ and ‘Free Press Journal’ has organised a unique event ‘Welcome Monsoon’ on Thursday to make people aware about weather literacy.

The organisers have made available an opportunity to people in general and experts in particular to interact with the director of Colaba Weather Station. Deputy Managing Director of IMD K S Hosalikar, scientist S G Kamble, Director V K Rajiv and other renowned guests will guide the enthusiasts at 4 pm in a programme to be held at Indian Merchant Chamber’s ‘Kilachand’ hall in Churchgate area on Thursday. Well known anchor of Doordarshan’s Sahyadri channel Pradip Bhide will conduct proceedings of the programme.

Mumbai Doordarshan’s Additional Managing Director Mukesh Sharma, RCF Marketing Director Ashok Ghasghase, Director of Saraswat Bank Kishor Ranganekar, Chairman of Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce Ram Bhogale, Additional Chief Secretary of State Agriculture Department Sudhirkumar Goel, BMC’s Emergency Section Head Mahesh Narvekar and others are being invited for the programme. The programme is only for the invitees.

One may contact Navshakti’s senior correspondent Prakash Sawant (9869601415) or Sachin Tikare (09423385236) for securing the invites.
