Arrest Three Accused With Rs 30.70 Lakh While The Fourth Accused Is Still On The Run
Palghar : The Valiv police have solved Rs 45 lakh worth heist by recovering major part of the loot from three accused who, along with their fourth accomplice, had looted a Surat-based businessman on November 3 on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.
Cops have been successful in recovering a major chunk of the cash (Rs 30.70 lakh) from the accused but the fourth accused is on the run and a massive man-hunt has been launched to nab him.
Along with the cash, cops have also recovered the Blue Maruti Swift car which the accused had used to accomplish the theft. Nilesh Sundar Shetty (38), Javed Habibulla Rehman Shaikh (22) and Sageer Nasim Khan (24) have been arrested and booked under sections 394 and 34 of the IPC.
On November 3, Abhishek Kamal Mantri, a 22-year-old cloth merchant, was travelling from Mumbai to Surat in his Chevrolet Cruze (GJ-16/AP-7744) loaded with Rs 45 lakh cash which he had got from a deal in Hyderabad. He along with his friend visited an orchestra bar at Dahisar and in a drunken state spoke about the huge cash he was carrying which was overheard by Shetty.
Shetty along with Shaikh and Khan planned to loot them and followed them from Borivali to Vasai phata. Around 1:45 am when Mantri stopped to answer nature’s call near Vasai Phata the three masked accused came from the other side of the road, hit them with an iron object on the head and decamped with the loot.
Shetty was a regular bar-hopper and hadn’t visited any bar since the theft which raised suspicion and was tracked by the cops. He wanted to open a hotel of his own and had thought that this was the opportunity which might make his life and hence roped in two of his friends who were jobless.
