Mumbai : On the  second consecutive day, heavy rains lashed Pune city. This is yet another area of Mahrashtra receiving unseasonal rains. Except for Konkan, the rest of Maharashtra has been witnessing unseasonal hailstorms. The Meteorological department has said that the intensity of rains is likely to increase in the next 48 hours. On Thursday morning, severe humidity and heat had gripped the city. By afternoon, there was sudden change in the temperatures with thunder, lightning and heavy rains, that threw traffic for a toss.

On one hand Shiv Sena has criticized the government for showing total helplessness with the hail storm damage and has demanded that the government disperse money immediately to compensated the affected farmers. The opposition has the government not to use the excuse of code of conduct and take immediate sanction from the election commission.

Meanwhile, the Aam Adami Party too said, “It would be a shame for a Government that prides itself as being the true representative of the agricultural folk, to plead inability to provide relief for want of completion of the assessment of losses because the concerned staff is busy on election duty.”
