Unidentified body of woman found in Juhu area


Mumbai: The unidentified body of a woman was found wrapped in a plastic sheet and dumped in Juhu Koliwada area of Santacruz (E), on Saturday morning. The woman had multiple injuries and is suspected to be pregnant, said a police official.

The Santacruz police was informed at around 7 am by a local person who saw the body lying on Sakaram Gavade Road. The spot is barely 100 metres away from the police chowky.  A police official said, “The woman is aged somewhere around 35 and her body was stuffed inside a plastic sheet, which was used as a gunny bag. Her hands were tied with a small rope. She also had several injury marks on her body. “The shoulder of the deceased was fractured and there was a deep shrapnel wound on her leg besides other internal injuries like a cut on her forehead and a deep injury on the back of her head”, said the police.

The police suspect that the woman is pregnant, but is waiting for the medical reports. A case of murder has been registered against an unknown person. “The woman was dressed in a red salwar kameez and has no gold ornaments. A pedestrian noticed the tied plastic sheet with blood oozing out of it and alerted a police constable,” said police inspector, Crime, Sudhir Kudalkar.


 An autopsy was conducted at nearby Cooper Hospital and the police have confirmed that the murder has taken place within the last 12 hours.
