Mumbai: On Wednesday night, a 25-year-old Ghatkopar man was murdered after a tiff regarding parking space. The Ghatkopar police have booked four people for murder and common intention under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The arrests have already been made and one of the accused is a suspended cop. According to the Ghatkopar police, the deceased youth, Ganesh Mhaske, was standing beside his bike with two of his friends at Sai Nath Nagar. At that time, four people drove to the same spot in a car. On the pretext of reversing his car, the driver and biker had an argument, followed by a scuffle between the four men and Mhaske. The four accused thrashed him and pushed him inside an open nullah.

The accused fled the spot, leaving behind their four-wheeler. Mhaske’s friends immediately alerted the neighbours, who pulled him out. They rushed Mhaske to Rajawadi Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Ghatkopar police registered a case of murder and seized Mhaske’s bike as well as the car for investigation. “We are scrutinising CCTV camera footage of the area to identify the accused. Meanwhile, a case of murder (section 302) and common intention (section 34) have been registered,” said Maniksingh Patil, assistant commissioner of police (Ghatkopar division).

According to sources, “One of the accused is a police officer, who is currently suspended and murder could be a planned affair. The murder accused fled the area,” said a cop of the Ghatkopar police station. Of the four accused, one has been identified as suspended sub inspector Shyam Ayare, and all the four alleged culprits have been arrested.
