Ulhasnagar: Man kills elder brother over property dispute

Ulhasnagar: The Ulhasnagar police have arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly killing his 50-year-old elder brother over a property dispute between them. The accused Santosh Kadam, 48, allegedly hit his brother Vitthal Kadam, 50, with an iron rod on his head.

The police said the incident took place on Wednesday night near Himmat Jethani Chowk, Bhim Nagar, Ulhasnagar 1. Vishal Vitthal Kadam, 24, son of the deceased auto-rickshaw driver filed a complaint in the case. In his statement to police he said, "On May 19, the accused Santosh went to his mother Janabai Kadam's place and was abusing her for distribution of her property. Janabai called her elder son Vitthal and complained about Santosh. Vitthal along with Vishal reached Janabai's house to find Santosh abusing her. Vitthal asked Santosh to leave the house. They both had an oral dispute. Angry over the spat, Santosh assaulted Vitthal with a rod on his head. Vitthal was shifted to hospital, but was declared dead due to heavy bleeding," said a police officer.

The Ulhasnagar police have registered a case against Santosh under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code. He was arrested and was produced in court on Thursday. He has been remanded to police custody for five days. AS. Gore, police inspector, Ulhasnagar police station is further investigating the matter.
