Mumbai : After much speculation, senior BJP minister Prakash Mehta, on Saturday, played the role of a special emissary and formally invited Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray for the ‘Bhoomipujan’ of Dr Ambedkar memorial, just as the state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve appealed ‘everybody who loves Ambedkar’ to ‘keep aside their egos’ and join the ‘historic moment’. But Uddhav will not be attending the function as he will be away in Marathwada to review thedrought situation there.
While addressing a press conference at the state party headquarters here, Danve said, “I appeal to everybody who loves Dr. Ambedkar to keep aside their egos and attend the historic moment tomorrow, when bhoomipujan for the Ambedkar memorial would be performed at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”He added, “It is a matter of pride for all of us. No prestige issues should come in between.”
When asked whether Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray would attend the function, Danve informed the media that Housing minister Prakash Mehta is scheduled to meet Mr. Thackeray to invite him for the function.
While answering another question he said that he himself and CM Devendra Fadnavis have spoken to chiefs of all other parties in the ruling alliance and invited them for the program on Sunday.
“CM and I have spoken to all the party leaders and Jankar, Shetty, Mete, Athavale all have said that they would be attending the function,” Danve said.
