Bhayandar : The Navghar police in Bhayandar have arrested two notorious thieves who are suspected to be involved in multiple house breaking cases in and around the region.
According to the police, some miscreants had broke into an apartment in the Siddhi-Vinayak area of Bhayandar (east) and decamped with gold ornaments and other valuables worth more than Rs 2.83 lakh. However, their images were captured by the CCTV cameras that were installed around the building. Armed with images of the two suspects, an investigating team under the supervision of senior police inspector Shrikant Padule intensified vigil and activated the informers’ network. Following a tip-off, police arrested Vikas Yadav (20) and Sanju Das (24) for their involvement into the crime.
Although the stolen booty is yet to be recovered, the police seized equipments used by the duo to commit the break-ins. Not ruling out their involvement in other similar crimes in Thane and Mumbai, the investigating team is trying to track the person to whom the stolen booty had been sold. A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against the arrested accused who have been remanded to police custody. Police personnel Jadhav is carrying out further investigations into the case.
