Mumbai : Two people were killed when a compound wall of an under construction building collapsed in Tardeo, near Ratan Tata Colony following incessant rains in the city.
One person among the five people who were affected by the collapse of the wall was a security guard at the under construction site. The other four could not be identified.
The wall that collapsed was the wall adjoining the building guard’s makeshift house. It is believed that the reason for the wall collapsing is the non-stop rains for the last few days in Mumbai.
The wall collapsed during early hours of Sunday morning when all the five people were sleeping inside the guard’s house. Two of them managed to escape with minor injuries; another two were declared ‘brought dead’ to Nair hospital in Mumbai central, said sources at the hospital.
According to sources, the people who were injured in the incident were rushed to the hospital. Of the injured two succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead, while another two were discharged after treatment.
Another is in critical condition and is still on ventilator, doctors at the hospital said that it was too early to comment on his progress.
