Kalyan: Two people were arrested by Ulhasnagar crime branch for who stealing (elevator) lift control drives from many buildings. The arrested accused has been identified as Vikash Tiwari (23) who is resident of Badlapur while Rajendra Giri (30) who is also accused who bought it of Rs 8,000 from Tiwari.
The accused Vikash is an electrician by profession and has good knowledge of elevator maintenance. He took out the lift control drive within 5 minutes. 3000 voltage power in lift control drive box when he took it from control room. He taken the life risk and took it from control room.
He stolen lift control drive at around 10 to 15 building across the Ambernath, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan cities. The police said the accused Vikas Tiwari and Rajendra, an electrical engineer, stole 39 such control drives, all valued at Rs 7.80 lakh
Mahesh Tarade, senior police inspector, Ulhasnagar crime branch said,”Ulhasnagar Crime Unit IV lead by senior inspector we cracked the case. Tiwari would go to the building as a life mechanic and steal the drive and then sell it to Rajendra. We were getting complaints about theft of lift drives in buildings after which we started a probe.”
“We alerted our informers and by hand them pictures of the accused. Based on a tip off, we got to know that he would come at Ambernath near Forest Naka on May 19. We laid a trap and arrested him,” he added. During interrogation, he revealed that he committed the crime. The arrested both accused were produced before court and remanded into police custody for May 24. Police said that investigation is on.
