Mumbai : The Antop Hill police have arrested two people for burning more than 10 two-wheelers after stealing petrol from them.
The arrested accused have been identified as Bhavesh Bhairulal Soni (21) a resident of Kokri Depot, Antop Hill, and Pravin Pujari (26), a resident of Wadala. The incident occured on December 15, when at around 3.45 am, resident noticed a growing fire in an open ground near Sector -7 of CGS Colony in Antop Hill. When they checked they found that 11 two-wheelers parked in the ground had been set alight. All bikes were destroyed in the fire.
The police investigating the matter found that most of the burnt two-wheelers had their petrol tanks empty and also the pipes connecting to the petrol tank were missing. They noticed the same with other two-wheelers vehicles parked nearby. Suspecting that the fire was not caused accidentally, they started investigating the incident. On December 16, after speaking to eyewitnesses and residents, the police arrested Soni and Pujari.
Soni and Pujari had allegedly stolen petrol from the parked two-wheelers in the area and would do so regularly. To avoid suspicion from the residents, they allegedly set fire to the two-wheelers.
