Police shown reluctance to register the case
Aurangabad : Two men, who projected themselves as policemen, in their 20s have been booked under POCSA Act for raping a 17-year-old girl and shooting the heinous act in her mobile camera on the outskirts of Jalna on late Monday night.
Police earlier shown reluctance to register the case but finally did it on Tuesday following the orders issued by district superintendent of police Jyoti Priya Singh. A massive hunt has been launched for the rapists though they are not arrested yet by the Jalna police.
According to information, one Smita (name changed) had ventured out of her house and was waiting for her friend at a square on the outskirts of Jalna on Monday night. The two, who were stalking her since her house, approached her and introduced themselves as policemen. They forced her to ride their motorcycle, took her some 10 kms away from the spot towards Sindkhedraja and raped her one by one in a roadside farm. They grabbed her mobile phone and captured the act into it and dropped her at the square where she was kidnapped from at 11.50 pm.
Smita on reaching house narrated the nightmare to parents who approached the police station concerned but were not given any attention. This forced them to approach the SP. On hearing the girl’s plight SP directed the police station to register the case and accordingly a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Abuse (POCSA) Act was registered.
Police said that the duo has been caught in two CCTV cameras installed outside shops in the square from where they had picked up Smita.
This will help police in identify and arrest the rapists.
