Bhayandar: Already in troubled waters, the local Congress leadership was left red-faced after two of its own corporators – Sarah Akram and Jubeir Inamdaar in the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) – got indulged in a bitter battle over the issue of removal of an illegal “tapri” (stall) in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road. Based on a complaint filed by Sarah Akram, the Naya Nagar police registered a non-cognizable for issuing threats against Inaamdaar who is also the Congress party’s group leader in the civic body.
In continuance with her drive of clearing pavements and roads, Akram was getting an illegal stall on the Lodha Road removed with the help of civic personnel, when some miscreants – claiming to be Inamdaar’s associates – threatened her with dire consequences and offloaded the confiscated stall from MBMC’s official truck. While Akram said that she was getting the illegal stall removed, following pleas by local resident, Inamdaar dismissed the incident as an internal issue, which according to him will be sorted out within the party.
Meanwhile, the local ward officer has also registered a complaint against unidentified miscreants for forcefully taking away the confiscated stall. Exposing the brewing in-fight, the incident has created flutters in the political circles as the Congress has rolled up its sleeves to contest the upcoming assembly elections from this constituency against the BJP.
