Trailer was stolen from Mahanagar Palika at Devidayal road in Mulund on Monday
Mumbai: Mulund police on Tuesday arrested one person in connection with the theft of a trailer.
The trailer, worth Rs 28 lakh was stolen from Mahanagar Palika at Devidayal road in Mulund (E) on Monday night around 8:30 pm.
Suryabhan Namdev More (55), driver, also a complainant in this case informed the Mulund police about it.
The registration number of the missing Tata 2518 trailer is MH01JR6717. The trailer was registered in Vadodara.
The Mulund police got the information that the trailer was at a garage in Vadodara, Gujarat with the help of GPRS system. They dispatched a team to Vadodara and the accused was nabbed.
The Mulund police registered a complaint on Tuesday based on the information provided to them by More, who is a Dahisar resident, that some unidentified person had taken away the trailer parked at the roadside at Mulund.
As per the police, the trailer was traced by the GPRS system near Dhanlaxmi petrol pump at NH-1 highway near Vadodara.
“Fake registration numbers are provided by the bogus RTOs in Vadodara; spare parts are removed and sold over there and (are) used for illegal activities. These trailers ply between Mumbai to Gujarat every day.” said RajaramVhanmane, Senior Police Inspector, Mulund police station.
“A case has been registered at Mulund police station. The accused Sukhdev Singh SadusinghSohail (45) has been arrested under Section 379 (theft) under the Indian Penal Code.”saidVhanmane.
