Mumbai: Traders on Saturday met Governor BS Koshyari and raised serious concern over the continuing lockdown in Maharashtra. They urged him to open shops, offices and business houses and waive electricity charges, professional tax and local body license fees.
The delegation comprising representatives of Chamber of Associations of Maharashtra Industry and Trade, Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Assonciation, Steel Users Federation of India, Federation of Associations of Maharashtra and Mumbai Grain Dealers Association was accompanied by Mumbai BJP chief Mangal Prabhat Lodha.
The Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association president Viren Shah said the traders brought to Governor’s notice that they were going through difficult times and they were not in a position to face lockdown extension.
‘’Traders are upset as the government has neither announced any relief package nor considered allowing traders to open their shops and establishments,’’ he noted.
Shah said the Governor has assured to speak to Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope and Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte about the issues raised by them.
