Use specially designed software to purchase e-tickets from IRCTC website before it opens to the public
Mumbai : Touts are using a specially designed software to purchase E-tickets from the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website before it opens to the public.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested two touts from a rented space in Dharavi on Wednesday. Probing further, the police were led to a communication agency in Ghatkopar by the name of Krishna Communication.
On raiding it the police arrested K Vishwakarma along with two accomplices and recovered 2 laptops and a dongle. K Vishwakarma is a B.Sc from a leading college in Mumbai.
Tickets worth Rs 5.3 lakhs were recovered from the touts along with two laptops. These tickets include 37 e-tickets and 7 tickets that are booked from various public reservations systems (PRS). According to officials, Vishwakarma was in constant touch with a man from Daund near Pune.
“These touts create fake IDs on all the counters and issue 6-7 tickets per window just a minute before the counter is open. The software named T-19 keeps hitting on the IRCTC website from 7:55 pm while the counter opens at 8 pm. At 7:59 pm just a minute before the counters are open for the public, the tickets are purchased by them.”
The software designed does not have a verified gateway, using which the money is debited without asking for balance and multiple tickets are issued. Where is generally before debiting the amount a message is sent asking for adequate balance in the account.
Divitional Security Commissioner, Alok Bohra said, “We have arrested the touts and the crime cell is also assisting us in nabbing the man who is behind developing the software. We are expecting to solve the case very soon.”
IPS officer and cyber crime expert Sanjay Pandey said, “It is a very serious matter they have not only gained access to the website but also hacked the entire server. The server is breached and the security walls are passed. The detail of the credit card being used is also installed in the software. It cannot be possible unless an insider is involved in the crime who has provided the details.”
