Tobacco products worth Rs 1.85L seized in FDA raids

Bhayandar : Continuing their drive, the Thane unit of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seized banned tobacco and pan masala worth more than Rs 1.85 lakh in separate raids conducted at pan kiosks in Kashimira and Bhayandar on Thursday evening.

 The confiscated material included pan masala and scented tobacco products of various brands.

  Cases under the relevant sections of the IPC and Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restriction on Sales) Act 2011 have been registered against five people at the concerned police stations.

Food safety officials M A Jadhav, Kardak and Vishe carried out the raids under the guidance of assistant commissioner (food) C D Rathod.
