A Kolkata-bound Vistara flight, UK 775 from Mumbai, ran into a nasty pocket of air turbulence just before landing. Though a mishap was averted, and the aircraft landed safely at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on Monday evening, three passengers on board were not that lucky. They were badly hurt while five others sustained minor injuries inside the aircraft, reports India Today’s news portal. Upon landing, the three with serious injuries were rushed to Charnock Hospital in the city by ambulance.
One elderly person had a dislocated shoulder, while a female passenger had reportedly fractured her right arm. The third injured person, a young man, had bumped his head, the portal said. The incident, it is claimed, occurred around 70 nautical miles from Kolkata, when the plane fell into a clear air vacuum pocket between 17,000 to 20,000 feet above.
