Kalyan: The Thane anti extortion cell have arrested two members who are aides of Prasad Pujari and Suresh Pujari for alleged death threat call to Thane president Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Avinash Jadhav. The accused has been identified as Sandesh Shetty who worked outside India two years ago but now since one year he is in Mumbai and Nitin Shetty who worked at a construction site, is a resident of Mulund. Avinash approached the police station and filed à case against them on June 18. Police said that after a case was booked on June 19, Sandesh was arrested and on Thursday, Nitin Shetty was also arrested.
The Police said, since June 18, there were death threat calls received from Sandesh and Nitin. According to the police, Prasad Pujari himself called up Avinash Jadhav from a VIP number from Hong Kong to threaten him to not get involved in the matter on Thursday. The accused Sandesh has been arrested and is a resident of Prabhadevi, and Nitin is a resident of Mulund. Both had demanded Rs 24 lakh from a 24-year-old garment businessmen in Navi Mumbai for Suresh Pujari and Prakash Pujari.When Avinash Jadhav got to know about the incident, he contacted Shetty and asked about the threat call to the businessman. However, he disconnected the call saying he did it as he was asked by Pujari to do so.
Police Inspector Vikas Godke, Anti Extortion cell Thane said,"When Jadhav was at his MNS office in Naupada, he received calls from an international number on his mobile phone threatening him not to get involved in the businessman matter. The number was reportedly of Prasad Pujari". The Thane police have provided to Avinash one policeman for his security and further investigation is still on. Sandesh was produced before the court and remanded to police custody till June 26.
