Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) under the guidance of its chief Dr.Vipin Sharma organised an awareness workshop on the plastic ban for the students of municipal school no.18. The workshop received a very good response from the students and they with their teachers pledged during the workshop that they would not use banned plastic.
The notification on ban on single use of plastics in the country from July 1, 2022 has been published by the Central Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change. An action force has been formed under the chairmanship of Dr. Vipin Sharma and it has already started initiating action on the violators in the municipal area.
The Thane civic body in collaboration with social organisations is conducting public awareness campaigns in public places, schools, colleges and housing complexes for the ban on disposable plastics.
During the workshop, the civic school students and teachers took a green oath under the Vasundhara Abhiyan by deciding not to use banned plastics.
