The special vaccination drive was held on Saturday at TMC's Parking Plaza near Jupiter Hospital in Thane. It was started in the presence and guidance of guardian minister Eknath Shinde, TMC Mayor Naresh Mhaske and municipal commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma. "It started at 11 am and ended at 2 pm and around 16 transgenders who approached the centre were vaccinated by the staff," said Sandeep Malvi, deputy municipal commissioner and public relation officer, TMC.

Mhaske had appealed the transgender community to take the benefit of the vaccination drive organised for them and reach the centre to take the jab. "Our aim is to accommodate all the sections of the society. On Saturday, we organised it for the transgender community so that they are not deprived of vaccination. It was the first day so only 16 who reached the centre were vaccinated. We appeal to the community to spread the word among the community and take the benefit by coming to the centre. The special drive was to benefit them with vaccination," added Mhaske stating the transgender thanked the authorities for the vaccination drive and were happy for the efforts made by TMC.
