Thane and neighbouring areas witness Watter-logging too

As heavy rainfall lashed Thane district on Friday, water-logging cases were reported from several parts of the city in Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar.

Bhiwandi: As heavy rainfall lashed Thane district on Friday, water-logging cases were reported from several parts of the city in Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar.  The Central line (Mumbai Suburban Railway) also witnessed heavy rainfall in the early hours of Friday morning, resulting in water logging at Thane station tracks.  R K Meena, Thane Station Master said, "Due to heavy rain, the railway patrolling team who were actively engaged since morning regarding the water logging situation and other staff present also cleared the garbage which was lying on the tracks to clear the water logging.

Not a single train has been delayed reported till now".  Police inspector Anil Mangale Wagale traffic said, " Due to heavy downpour, the Naupada area, Teen Hath Naka and Hari Niwas areas experienced traffic jam situations. In Mumbra, three incidents involving vehicles took place, one vehicle dashed into a divider, the second vehicle fell into a pit in a nearby road and the third vehicle stopped on the road due to some mechanical fault in the vehicle". 

The Teen Batti Market in Bhiwandi, was inundated with rain water, the people had no choice but to walk through the knee deep water and many motorists even had to abandon their vehicles due to the rising water level on the streets. The Bhiwandi city and the surrounding areas such as Mandai area, Millat Nagar, Bala compound, Bhiwandi ST depot and Jaitunpura experienced water logging situations as well. 

Kalyan city

Due to heavy rain, many low lying areas in Kalyan such as Chikanghar and Beturkarpada areas witnessed water logging. Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation reported that 13 trees and one electric pole fell down in Kalyan and Dombivli areas.  

Ulhasnagar city

Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation(UMC) officials said that in the furniture market, water had entered into some of the houses. Water logging complaints were received from the furniture market, Aman talkies and Nehru Chowk areas where water had entered some of the houses and shops. Some locals blamed the UMC for not cleaning the nullahs properly resulting in this kind of waterlogging in these areas.

Thane city

Many areas witnessed water logging such as Makhmali lake, Uthalsar area, Saraswati English school, Kamgar hospital area, Jalaram apartment, Uthalsar ward office, etc. 

Satosh Kadam officer, Regional disaster management cell said, "We received many complaints which totaled to 56 including one fire incident, 13 tree falls,8 tree branch falls, 2 trees in dangerous condition, 16 water logging cases, 1 building in dangerous condition, 1 slab fall, and 14 other incidents.
